U.S. Rep. Andy Harris of Maryland is the latest Republican lawmaker to run afoul of new security screening designed to keep guns out of the House chamber following an attack two weeks ago on the Capitol, according to a Capitol official and an eyewitness account.
Many Coloradans Have Already Had Enough of Lauren Boebert
The gun-loving, conspiracy-theory-spouting congresswoman from Western Colorado has been in office for just over two weeks. But calls for her to resign, including a petition signed by more than 32,000 Coloradans, are growing by the day.Shane Monaghan •

It didn’t take long for Colorado’s newest congresswoman to make a name for herself in Washington although it’s not necessarily a good one. In just over two weeks in office, Representative Lauren Boebert has advocated for overturning the results of the 2020 presidential election, drawn the ire of her colleagues for tweeting the location of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi during the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, and been sued in federal court by a constituent who the congresswoman blocked on Twitter.
Newly-elected Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) found herself at the center of controversy following the release of her latest campaign-style video ad. In the video, Boebert claimed she is going to carry my Glock to Congress to highlight her defense of Second Amendment rights.
But they cite different parts of the Constitution.
In a House-floor harrangue about the magnetometers, a new mask mandate and other grievances, Jordan said, I fear for the First Amendment, I fear for the Second Amendment, I fear for the Bill of Rights, I fear for the Constitution. I do not know where this takes us, but it is scary.”
Jordan later was scolded for not wearing a mask on the House floor.
Stivers complaint was more esoteric. He cited Article I, Section 6 of the U.S. Constitution, which states that a member cannot be delayed or detained when they are conducting their Constitutional duty a category the Columbus lawmaker says includes voting on the House floor.

Metal detectors have been installed at the entrances to the United States Capitol for the first time following last week’s violent attack, but some Republican members of the House are reportedly boycotting the new security measures.
Rep.
Lauren Boebert (R-CO), who released a campaign video pledging to “carry my Glock to Congress,” refused to hand her bag over to police when entering the building on Tuesday, according to CNN’s
Ryan Nobles:
Capitol Police won’t let her in until Boebert shows them what is in her bag, she won’t and is now standing by the entrance of the chamber. She is respectful but defiant.
