Thousands of Indians Give Blood for #GlobalBloodHeroes Day

Bangalore (Karnataka) [India], August 29 (ANI/PRNewswire): Thousands of Indians in Bangalore, Mumbai, Lucknow, Jaipur and Ladakh took part in #GlobalBloodHeroes Day to save the lives of over one lakh people and break a world blood donation record. The #GlobalBloodHeroes campaign is led by Who is Hussain, a social justice movement who has partnered with blood donor organisations around the world, including Narayana Health, Red Cross, Rotary Blood Bank in India. In Mumbai, over 30 blood donation points took part in the initiative, including some hospitals who opened their doors for 24 hours specifically to welcome blood donors. In Bangalore, over a thousand blood donation appointments were arranged for this initiative. India's biggest blood donor also took part. Shabir Hussain Khan gave his 179th blood donation on this day. Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 23 (ANI/PRNewswire): On Saturday, August 27, thousands of Indians will attempt to break the world record for the most blood donations in one calendar day. #GlobalBloodHeroes Day is a worldwide campaign to save lives and build greater awareness about the urgent need to donate blood. Just one blood donation can help save three lives. The drive is open to any volunteer willing and eligible to give blood. #GlobalBloodHeroes Day aims to rally 50,000 blood donors across six continents. The campaign hopes to save the lives of 150,000 people at a time when blood supplies are being challenged.
