Sierra-Lynn Harada-Stone
The Masaki and Momoe Kunimoto Memorial Award was established by Tadashi and Elizabeth Kunimoto to honor the founders of Chikara Products, Inc., specializing in Hawaiʻi foods such as Aloha Tofu, Maui Natto and Chikara Konnyaku. This award is given in alternate years: on even years to a faculty member, and on odd years to a student, who makes a significant contribution to career and technical education in the University of Hawaiʻi Community Colleges.

Sierra-Lynn Harada-Stone, a business student at Kauaʻi Community College, is the recipient of the 2021 Masaki and Momoe Kunimoto Memorial Award.
April 22, 2021 – Out of a total of 27 teams, two Santa Fe College teams that competed in Cohort IV of the Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge have been selected winners. Global Solutions is a virtual exchange program funded by the U.S. Department of State though the Stevens Initiative, which is administered by the Aspen Institute. The program was started in the Fall of 2019 and has brought together over 2000 students from the United States, Jordan and Iraq. The binational teams that SF students participated in won first and third place.
The binational team led by Dr. Clay Smith allowed SF students in the B.S. in Accounting and B.A.S. in Organizational Management programs to collaborate with students at Al-Hussein Technical University in Amman, Jordan. They proposed a spectacular project to optimize communication in the food supply chain and help reduce food waste around the world. You can learn more about their group’s proposal online.
