An anti-corruption organisation, the Global Integrity Crusade Network (GICN), has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Director-General, National Pension Commission (PenCom), Aisha Dahiru-Umar, to resign over alleged misappropriation of N14billion and abuse of office. SaharaReporters reported that the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), wrote to the PenCom DG demanding an explanation on the allegation that she bribed her way to be confirmed as the substantive Director-General of the commission.
In a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, the group urged the CCB and anti-graft agencies to look into the matter as it will not hesitate to embark on mass protest after the expiration of the ultimatum.
SaharaReporters had on August 9 2021 exposed the extravagant lifestyle of the minister in its publications which included multi-million naira mansions in Abuja.
The group had, on July 20, 2020, in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/816/2020, dragged Sahara Reporters, Vanguard Media Limited, and two others before the court, demanding N2bn from them over alleged defamatory publications.
