Knowing when to fish in Minnesota is almost as important as knowing where to fish. Beginning with the walleye opener in mid-May and ending with muskie fishing just before freeze-up, the state's best open-water fishing follows fairly predictable patterns. That said, in most years, the overall best time to fish Minnesota lakes is right now. Bluegill and crappie fishing can be excellent, ditto .

The city of Syracuse has had six fires break out over the course of 48 hours.
Five people were rescued from the first blaze early Saturday morning on W Onondaga St. Two of those rescued were taken to the hospital.
Hours later, another fire was reported on Lakeview Ave. Most of the damage was contained to the second floor of the home.
The third fire ripped through a vacant house on May Ave early Sunday morning. Crews spent nearly an hour putting out the blaze.
Monday morning, a fire was called in around 1:30 on South Ave. No one was injured, but a firefighter was treated for minor burns.

Officials were at the scenes of three separate rollover crashes in the metro area early Tuesday.
Two of the rollovers happened in Minneapolis and the third happened in Coon Rapids.
One person died after a rollover crash in the area of Xerxes and Glenwood avenues, near Wirth Lake, in Minneapolis.
Minneapolis Police said officers responded to the crash at 5:33 a.m. and found a vehicle north of the intersection on its roof with a woman pinned underneath it. At that point, the woman identified only as a Minneapolis resident in her mid-30s was already dead, police said.
