will be front and center. what a night, and what a difference 24 hours makes, right? just the music makes me happy. the election music. votes and results, not just polls. democrats scoring huge wins and abortion rights were front and center. [ cheering ] in ohio, voters have decided to make abortion a right under the state constitution. a solid majority voted yes. this is a state controlled, by the way, by republicans . in virginia, cnn predicts democrats will take control of the legislature. it s a setback for glenn youngkin, pushing to restrict abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. and governor andy beshear, a democrat, has won reelection. and by the way, he won as a democrat in a state that donald trump won by 26 points in 2020. a deeper dive on all of the numbers, what do we see? let s start with the top line. what we were watching last night, and compare it to 2020. three years have passed and we re only a year away from the next seleelection. this is important i
all i can say is, count me out, enough is enough. the president bears responsibility for wednesday s attack on congress. some republicans swear this time is different. this time donald trump is no doubt in the rear-view mirror. it s moving in a different direction as we move forward, is a good thing. the voters have spoken and said they want a different leader, and a true leader understands when they have become a liability. throw the puck, hallie. we have sat around this table before and people asked, will this time be any different. what he s doing this week, i m told is signing off on the placard to go on the run. the speech is written. i m told it has no mention of glenn young kin or ron desantis.
happens in this governor s race? and we can also tell you we spent the day over at one of the precincts a heavily african-american precinct. i talked to a lot of folks there. interesting fact that a lot of the people really didn t know that much about glenn youngkin but they said they were voting for terry mcauliffe because they knew his name. back to you. all right. interesting. joe johns with some actual votes coming in there. john, and these are just you know, just a couple precincts but it shows a strong a strong showing by the republican glenn youngkin. it shows number one, yes, in a democratic area. it also shows the values just having reporters on the ground. again, this is not dispositive. these are two of the precincts he mentioned where he had the firm vote numbers. glenn young kin ahead by a couple 300 votes with change there. again, this is in chesapeake. they haven t officially reported them yet so you still see the map blank. if you go back to the last governo
on this, at least in richmond rainy election day. glenn youngkin brought it back to the local issues. people in virginia wanting lower taxes, wanting to ensure that parents can be involved in schools. that s been his big late push. he did acknowledge yesterday that the nation is watching what s going on in virginia, and they re watching it for those reasons you laid out. people are wait to go see, is this going to be some kind of indicator about how voters feel about democrats nationally. is this going to be an indicator of how you should run in the era of trump. terry mcauliffe sees a race that has been tightening. he told his voters now is not the time to be complacent. now is the time you get out there, return your ballot. obviously this is a state where a large chunk of voters have done that. they have voted early but of course we are seeing folks turn out at the polls on election day on this pretty rainy day in richmond. alisyn, victor. boris in prince william county, what are y
