With hurricane season approaching, the annual Texas emergency supplies sales tax holiday will begin at 12:01am on Saturday, April 27th and will end at 11:59pm on Monday, April 29th.

The cities of Archer City, Holliday, Scotland and Windthorst saw an increase in sales tax in April than they did in the same time frame in 2023. Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on April 10 that he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.03 billion in local sales tax allocations for April 5.5 percent more than in April 2023.

Emergency supplies sales tax holiday next weekend

A state sales tax holiday will kick off next weekend for emergency preparation supplies to help prepare residents for emergencies such as flash floods and wildfires. Eligible items can be purchased tax free during the holiday. The sales tax holiday begins Saturday, April 27 and extends through midnight Monday, April 29. There is no limit on the number of qualifying items that can be purchased during the holiday.
