Galashiels: Man charged after vehicle damage gets reported

A MAN has been charged following reports of vehicle damage in the Borders, say police. Officers say they were contacted on Sunday (May 9) after a number of vehicles were deliberately damaged in the Glendinning Terrace area of Galashiels. A 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incidents, police say. PC Callum Wood from Galashiels Police Station said: “We would like to thank the response from the community in supporting this enquiry. Reducing anti-social behaviour is a local priority for police in the Scottish Borders and we are committed to tackling this issue.” The man is due to appear in court at a later date.

Callum Millar, 23, from Galashiels, has been jailed after failing to tell police about a change of address A SEX offender from Galashiels who failed to tell police officers of his new address has been jailed for eight months at Selkirk Sheriff Court Callum Millar, 23, moved in with his partner to her new home in Gullane in East Lothian between December 2019 and March 2020. But he omitted to tell a supervising police officer of his change of circumstances which he is required to do under the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Act. The offence came to light when the relationship broke up and Millar moved back to his mother s home in Glendinning Terrace, Galashiels, and then his ex-partner told police what had been going on.

Spreading my wings It was his grandfather’s sticker-covered suitcase that helped spark Doug’s interest in travel. After growing up on Glendinning Terrace then Wylies Brae, Doug moved to the south of England when he was about 17 years old, working as an assistant professional at Hayling Island Golf Course near Portsmouth. It was here that Doug met a golf pro who part-owned a club in the Bahamas. “He asked me if I’d like to go to the Bahamas to work at his golf club and being 20 years old at the time I thought that would be a great opportunity to spread my wings,” Doug said.
