SALT LAKE CITY First lady Jill Biden landed in Salt Lake City Wednesday afternoon and is heading to a west-side middle school to thank teachers before heading to a pop-up COVID-19 clinic to encourage Utahns, especially the Hispanic community, to get vaccinated.
A small group of officials including Republican Gov. Spencer Cox and first lady Abby Cox were on hand to greet Biden, who is on a two-day visit to three states. She flies to Las Vegas when she leaves Salt Lake City and will travel to Colorado on Thursday.
Just before 1 p.m., several Utah political figures waited for Biden s arrival at the TAC Air terminal at Salt Lake City International Airport, with U.S. Rep. Blake Moore arriving first and then his Republican colleagues Reps. Chris Stewart and Burgess Owens as well as the governor joining him. Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall and Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson, both Democrats, were also on hand to greet the first lady.
Utah’s Republican Gov. Spencer Cox and first lady Abby Cox greeted first lady Jill Biden upon her arrival at the Salt Lake airport this afternoon. Abby Cox is traveling with her to Glendale Middle School, where Biden where will thank teachers for their diligence and hard work during the pandemic.
