Flooding results in one death, damage throughout Lincoln County
Lincoln County Sheriff Mike Wood said in a Facebook post that a search and rescue effort on May 31 recovered the body of a woman who swept away by swift water on Sunday.
New Mexico State Police officials said the body of 47-year-old Heather Garrett was recovered downstream of Alamo Canyon. Wood said local rescue officials and volunteers were involved in the recovery effort.
State Police indicated that Garrett s vehicle was swept away by flood waters on Alamo Canyon Road. Garrett is believed to have drowned in the incident, though an official cause of death was not released by officials.
