The Family Day long weekend saw recent COVID-19 data trends continue within the Eastern Ontario Health Unit region, as 20 new cases were confirmed and almost 50 cases resolved.
The increase in cases, averaged out, was about six cases per day since the EOHU’s last update on Friday afternoon.

South Stormont and Cornwall had the largest increases, accounting for 11 of the 20 new cases; Seven of those being in South Stormont, and four in Cornwall. There’s also been a 64th fatality since Friday, which provincial data posted Tuesday morning identified as being a resident at Woodland Villa in Long Sault, where an outbreak has now claimed five lives.

New COVID-19 cases in Cornwall made up almost half of the increase across the Eastern Ontario Health Unit this weekend.
Monday afternoon’s EOHU update showed 36 new cases, for a running total of 2,505 though this count did not align with data posted elsewhere within the health unit’s update that had the increase at 39 cases. Seventeen of the new cases were within the City of Cornwall.

Other increases included one in South Glengarry, eight in South Stormont, one in North Stormont, one in North Dundas, one in Russell, one in East Hawkesbury, one in Hawkesbury, one in Champlain, and seven in Clarence-Rockland. Two cases were removed from the total in South Dundas.

Cornwall saw another double-digit increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases when the Eastern Ontario Health Unit updated local information Wednesday afternoon.
There are 12 new cases within the city, part of an increase of 36 cases within the EOHU since Tuesday afternoon.

Other additions saw four new cases in Clarence-Rockland, one in Alfred & Plantagenet, one in Hawkesbury, two in The Nation, two in Casselman, three in Russell, one in North Dundas, four in North Stormont, three in South Stormont, two in North Glengarry, and two in South Glengarry. The running total of confirmed cases within the EOHU sits at 1,766.
