PaPa s Pantry receives donations

Glen Rose Medical Center, LDL Education Resources and Rose Nursing and Rehab sponsored a food drive for PaPa s Pantry.
The drive focused mainly on snack-type items for the summer for children of the food pantry s clients.
Items donated included Little Debbie snack cakes, individual packages of Goldfish crackers, individual bags of Cheez-its, animal crackers, small bags of chips, fruit snacks, cereal bars, individual microwavable mac and cheese and Capri Suns.
Individuals wishing to donate more of these types of items may do so by dropping them off at PaPa s Pantry at 753 Gibbs Blvd. Food pantry hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. every Tuesday.
Honea takes over as CEO of Glen Rose Medical Center

GLEN ROSE For the last 28 years, everything Michael Honea has done in the medical field has led him and prepared to where he landed early this week: the CEO of Glen Rose Medical Center.
Last Monday, Honea officially took over for Ray Reynolds as CEO, and Reynolds gives his blessing to the person he helped tutor during his tenure.
“I’m very pleased that the board has selected Michael Honea as its next CEO,” said Reynolds, who took over as CEO for Gary Marks in 2011. “Michael will lead GRMC to continued success in caring for the citizens of Somervell County and the surrounding areas.”

Dinosaur Valley State Park is closed through Sunday
Due to infrastructure failure, Dinosaur Valley State Park will be closed through Sunday. It is hoping to reopen on Monday, Feb. 21.
Anyone who had reservations during the closed times will receive a full refund.
Sign-ups open for youth baseball, softball
The Glen Rose Youth Baseball and Softball Association are taking registrations for teams 4U-U14. Players can sign up at www.quickscores.com/gryba. Cost is $85 and birth certificate is required.

Crawfish Boil at Oakdale
Oakdale RV Resort and Motor Court is hosting a crawfish boil on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 2-5 p.m. Tickets are $25 each. Parking is $5 and there is a $5 BOYB cooler fee. Food will be provided by Grill 214, and Zak Webb will provide live entertainment from 2-4 p.m.
COVID-19 vaccines slowly making way to area
Somervell County received 300 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and they were distributed on Feb. 4 to people in groups 1A and 1B on a first-come, first-served basis at the Somervell County Expo Center.
Announcements on when more vaccines will be made available will be made on the Glen Rose Medical Center website and social media pages, as well the Somervell County website and social media sites. KHITS 95.5 will also make announcements.
