Glaston Corporation and Softsolution are collaborating to create even more outstanding quality inspection solutions for tempering lines.
The partnership aims to establish a new industry standard in glass quality. It combines the expertise of the world’s leading tempering machinery provider with the knowledge of an internationally renowned supplier of quality assurance systems. Together, the partners will develop new solutions to benefit high-quality glass processors.
Meeting the challenges of the glass market
Glaston has been a pioneer in the development of online quality measurement of tempered glass for a long time already. In parallel, the company has been focusing especially on the issue of anisotropy. Thus, Glaston’s iLooK Distortion was launched in 2010 and iLooK Anisotropy in 2017.
WAPRO decided to continue the successful cooperation with SOFTSOLUTION.
The LineScanner recently installed at the insulating glass factory, WAPRO, in Diedorf, Germany utilizes the latest in LineScanner technology. At the inspection station located after the washing machine, the SOFTSOLUTION LineScanner has inspected every single lite since the start-up.
As soon as the LineScanner detects any surface quality or coating defects, the signal lamp turns red and all defects are highlighted and displayed on the monitor indicating the exact positions of each defect. The LineScanner then stores all scan data in the connected archive database. Employees can quickly and easily access the archived data for statistical reports and much more. In addition, the data can be tied directly to production information to easily look up past results should any questions about the quality of a unit arise in the future.
Building without glass is like living without light.
Remaining true to this principle, Nowak Glas has been building its reputation as a leading glass processing company in Germany. Their factory in Wattenscheid has a strong focus on isolating glass and a huge variety of all kinds of safety glasses.
A horizontal Viprotron ECO Scanner System was installed to optimize their laminated glass production and keep high quality standards. Its compact size made a retro-fit installation in the existing Benteler-line very easy. Only two camera heads cover the width of 2,80 meters.
They were put into operation in summer and offered great results from the beginning. The Scanners inspect every single glass right after the washing machine for scratches, bubbles, dirt and fingerprints etc.. A large screen shows results and defect positions in real time. Defective panes are sorted out to make sure none of them are processed in laminated glass.
