Napa Valley, CA – Burgess Cellars announces the acquisition of a new winery after the original Howell Mountain estate was lost in the Glass Fires last year. St. Andrews Winery, formerly owned by Clos du Val and rebranded as Luna Vineyards, will be the new winery space for Burgess Cellars. Built in a Provencal farmhouse style, the new winery will be managed by newly appointed Estate Director George Lobjanidze, offering an educational and immersive world class experience around Meghan Zobeck’s promiscuous farming philosophies. After a long-awaited rebuilding and acquisition process, the new space is anticipated to officially open to the public in July.

The home at 3119 Mount Veeder Road sounds like a great spot for a family gathering or Napa Valley getaway.
Featuring enough room for 10 overnight guests, wooded views, a hot tub, and a âhuge deck,â owner Natalie Schultz listed her A-frame-style home for rent for an estimated $975 per night.
Related On an October night in 2019, Scott Newman stood on his Sonoma Valley farm and watched the smoke plumes from the Kinkade Fire over the mountains to his north. He texted a friend, the local fire chief, “It looks like we might be in the fire path.” Minutes later, Newman recalled, the chief replied, “Sadly, yes.” By the following day, the fire had reduced nearly everything on his 500-acre property to blackened rubble. Only a single barn remained unscathed.
Newman’s crop and fire insurance policies covered just about all the damages, including six homes, 14 structures, and vineyard and ranching equipment worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Over the next year and a half, he built anew on the property that had been in his family for 50 years.
Pride And Joy: Water Leadership Defined
Joy Eldredge, Chair of CA-NV AWWA
Despite overseeing our most precious resource, water professionals often go unnoticed, and hence unappreciated. To that end, it’s my pleasure to highlight the efforts, accomplishments, and insights of industry leaders such as Joy Eldredge, chair of the California-Nevada Section of the American Water Works Association.
CA-NV AWWA represents an area and utility presence larger than most countries. The spate of issues is large as well, both in number and scope and that was before the pandemic hit. The repercussions of COVID have forced difficult operational decisions, and sometimes concessions, yet the goal of sustainably achieving the highest level of water quality and customer service remains the same. Joy Eldredge embodies this goal, and her service to others is evident even beyond her professional duties. Read on to learn about, and from, her experience.
