Heavy rains accompanied by whirlwinds were reported in Pamekasan, Madura on March 11, 2021. (Abd Aziz) Pamekasan (ANTARA) - A flood accompanied by a whirlwind inundated residential areas and roads in Gladak Anyar village, Pamekasan district, Madura Island, East Java province on Thursday afternoon, following incessant and heavy rainfall. The flooding was triggered by heavy rain, said Budi Cahyono, coordinator of the Quick Reaction Team (TRC) of the Pamekasan Disaster Mitigation Office (BPBD), during a visit to the flood-affected area.
The BPBD, in cooperation with the local military office, deployed personnel to assist flood victims and monitor further developments, he informed.

The flooding in Pamekasan City was the second of its kind in the past week. Pamekasan, E Java (ANTARA) - Floods inundated houses in five urban communities (kelurahan) and three villages in Pamekasan District, East Java, on Saturday following unremitting rains lashing since the past 48 hours.
The floodwaters began to besiege the capital of Pamekasan District on Friday (Dec 18) at around 8 p.m. local time. By Saturday afternoon, the floods spread to other areas, with the water levels rising.
