Some bandits have raided the Igabi and Chikun local government areas of Kaduna State, killing 18 persons.
The PUNCH learnt that the separate attacks happened between Monday and Tuesday.
The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, said the bandits attacked soft targets in Igabi and Chikun in the last 48 hours.
He said security operatives informed the state that the bandits first invaded Anaba village in Igabi LG, killing seven residents while houses were razed and over 20 cows rustled.
The commissioner gave the names of those killed as Ali Musa, Isa Sharehu, Tijjani Isa, Auwalu Shehu, Hashim Abdullahi, Hassan Saidu and Umar Rilwanu.

No fewer than 18 people have been killed and many others abducted following attacks by bandits on communities in Igabi and Chikun Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, in a statement yesterday in Kaduna, said the attacks took place in the last 48 hours, during which many houses were burnt, about 20 cows rustled and some poultry carted away.
According to the statement, nine people were killed in each of the attacked LGAs.
The statement, however, added that dozens of the bandits were killed in several locations by the troops.

Armed bandits have attacked communities in Kaduna killing 18 persons across two local government areas of Kaduna State.
It was gathered that nine people were killed in both Igabi and Chikun Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
A statement by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan said, “Security agencies have reported a sequence of attacks by armed bandits on soft targets in Igabi and Chikun Local Government Areas occurring over the last 48 hours.
“According to the reports, Anaba Village in Igabi Local Government Area was attacked with seven residents killed.
“Many of the houses in the community were burnt down, along with storehouses and barns. About 20 cows were rustled and some poultry slaughtered and carted away.
