A man charged over the death of his mother had been cleaning a gun and left a live round of ammunition in it, a court has been told.
Cristian Dino Lawlor, 22, appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday charged with the manslaughter of his mother Giustina Katerina Lawlor.
Relatives heard a gunshot then Mrs Lawlor scream inside her Taigum home, in Brisbane, last Saturday. Her body was found on the laundry floor and despite the efforts of paramedics, she could not be revived.
The court was told her son, a part-time factory worker, had been restoring an unregistered .22 calibre rimfire rifle at the family home.
