Picture: REINAL CHAND Pregnant women in Lautoka flocked in numbers to the Girmit Centre today to get their first dose of the Moderna vaccine. Health care workers attended to these women from 9am. The vaccination begins today in various centres across Viti Levu. The Ministry of Health and Medical Services had earlier stated that priority would be given to pregnant women across Viti Levu. “Due to the increasing widespread transmission of COVID-19 disease across Viti Levu, pregnant women are at a higher risk of contracting the virus which may cause severe illness,” the statement read.
