fundamentally that we learned from this testimony today and does it carry weight? in other words, we sort of tried to decide, is this testimony or not because it was in a court. there s no case against anybody at the moment. sure. in terms of that, the judge did say to lawyers and accusers be careful what you say here because this is going into a court record, this is something that could then be used in some kind of proceeding. a number of these women we know have actually spoken to prosecutors. their lawyers told us that today. in terms of the investigation, there were no specific details that we hadn t heard just at least generally. locations. we heard about the new mexico ranch. we heard about the island in the caribbean. we heard about the circumstances of some of this recruitment. a number of girls saying women now saying that when they were girls they came from unstable homes, that they were vulnerable, they were looking for support from adults, maybe financial support, mayb
of alleged victims, talking about how they were in dire straits and needed the money so much. i looked back at julie brown s reporting and there was one line at the end of the piece, many of the girls were one step away from homelessness. we just wanted money for school clothes and shoes. and what s laid out, too, in the indictment and we did see in julie brown s and we re seeing it in the indictment, is the way these young underage girls referred to in the indictment were recruited, and then they were sent out to recruit other young girls and bring them back. they were paid in cash for that. and as shimon pointed out, the way these encounters also escalated. and some of the girls saying in some of julie brown s reporting, we should point out. the alleged victims talking about how they didn t know it was going to maybe go that way. or they knew it wasn t right, but again, they were young and
youngest went, the youngest of the four children, they wrote memorials yesterday and stuck it to this tree. this one saying, brett, i ll miss you. dear family, you didn t deserve this. this note from one of the friends of one of the girls saying, you will now be we obviously have a problem there with the report. this is the thing. there are so many layers to this story. there is the political layer. there is who pulled the trigger, why did they do it, what happens next, what are the implications? it affects so many people. there is grief being felt around the world right now. when you think, and we continue to report on it, they are sitting there and thinking about their loved ones and their
