A member at the Boys and Girls Club of Cornwall / SDG is in the running for a national honour.
Savannah Lapensee, 19, has been named one of six BGC Regional Youth of the Year – for the Central region – and is eligible to become the Canadian overall top youth late this month.

“This recognition still feels surreal – I’m very excited,” Lapensee said on Wednesday.
The Youth of the Year is an initiative that celebrates leadership and achievement at clubs across the country, the local club said, and it’s a partnership with Hyundai Canada and Mary Brown’s Chicken. Over 100 club youth, between ages 15 and 21, applied for the Youth of the Year honours, by submitting a written essay and video which showcased achievements, service and leadership to their club, their school and their community.
