Girard and Tracey Newkirk Genesis Block has formed its board of advisers, which will provide strategic counsel on the company’s mission to build the entrepreneur class and lower barriers to entrepreneurship, according to a news release.
The board will further advance Genesis Block’s vision of being the anchor institution for minority and women business services and economic development in southeastern North Carolina, officials said in the release.
The board members are: Joseph “Joe” Finley, co-founder of CastleBranch and tekMountain; Karl Ricanek, co-founder and CEO of Lapetus Solutions; Deb Hays, a New Hanover County commissioner and Realtor; Albert Steed, president and CEO of Hybrid Athlete Foundation; Terry Espy, founder and president of MoMentum Companies; Wayne Hippo, managing partner of PS Solutions; Tracey Newkirk, co-founder and president of Genesis Block; and Girard Newkirk, co

Health Begins From Within is a one-woman company run by Cripps, who is working out of her Wilmington home. She said she hopes to take advantage of local resources being offered for Health Begins From Within as one of 10 businesses recently selected to participate in Genesis Block s minority business accelerator.
The first round of Genesis Block s Back on the Block Minority Accelerator will begin Thursday, said Girard Newkirk, co-founder of the business, which he started with his wife, Tracey Newkirk.

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Genesis Block is looking for small business owners for their first accelerator cohort.
Genesis Block is Wilmingtonâs newest community collaborative that works to grow small businesses in Southeastern North Carolina.
For their first Back on the Block Minority Accelerator, ten minority-owned, small businesses will be selected to take part in a 16-week course. The course, valued at $5,000, is free thanks to a grant from NC Idea.
