The Portuguese tactician was fired alongside his coaching staff, including Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin, and Giovanni Cerra.
Ryan Mason and Chris Powell are expected to take up a joint-interim role on a temporary basis with the search for a permanent replacement already underway.

Mourinho took over from Mauricio Pochettino as Tottenham manager in November 2019 and led the club to sixth in the English Premier League (EPL) during his first season in charge.
He has been under pressure at the club in the past few weeks after a disappointing series of results that culminated with the 2-2 draw against Everton at the weekend.

Spurs confirmed the news just before 11am on Monday morning and said Ryan Mason would take charge of first-team training.

A statement said: “The club can today announce that Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra have been relieved of their duties.
Chairman Daniel Levy added: “Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a Club. Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic.

After a poor run of Premier League form left them struggling to make the top six, plus exits from the FA Cup and Europa League, Levy has decided to pull the trigger. It ends a 16-month tenure at the north London giants and cuts his contract short by more than two years.
The club confirmed Ryan Mason will “take first-team training today and a further update will follow in due course”.

Spurs confirmed the sacking shortly after multiple reports started trickling in that the club has relieved Mourinho and his entire coaching staff of their duties with immediate effect. Ryan Mason will take over temporary managerial duties while being assisted by Chris Powell. The Club can today announce that Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra have been relieved of their duties, Spurs said via a statement on their website.

Jose Mourinho has been sacked as head coach of Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham are due to face Manchester City in the League Cup final on Sunday, April 25, right after they tackle Southampton in the Premier League on Wednesday, April 21.
