Lee County, IA- A Lee County couple have pleaded guilty to multiple counts of animal neglect following an investigation that led to hundreds of animals being seized from their property. TV Station KHQA reports that David and Gina Sams of Argyle, both plead guilty to four counts of animal neglect, three of those counts being dismissed in the plea agreement. Both were sentenced to a 40-day suspended jail sentence as well as one year of probation. The couple must also submit to random checks of their property and agree not to breed and sell animals during their sentence. The charges stem from a February 2022 investigation when Authorities in Lee County conducted a search warrant on the couple's property, and discovered roughly 300 animals living in poor conditions.
