Lawrence McCormick, age 92 of Holland, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 in Holland.
A lifelong resident of the city, he was born March 21, 1928. Throughout his life, he was affectionately known as “Poogy” by his closest relatives and friends. Larry was a 1946 graduate of Holland High School, where he played football for the Dutch. After high school he played minor league football for the Grand Rapids Hurricanes. He served his country in the U.S. Army twice; at the end of World War II and again in Korea. Later he began a 40+ year career at the Holland Sentinel, retiring in 1986 as a production manager. Larry enjoyed a 58 year marriage with his wife Miriam, who preceded him in death in 2010. He attended and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Holland for over 90 years, where he served for several years as financial chairman. In their retirement, Larry and Miriam enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe and spending time with their children and grandchildr
