at the long-term financial toll that remote learning will take on america s students. particularly those who have been forced into remote learning during the pandemic. economists are now saying the price tag is set to be staggering. fox business correspondent lydia hu joins us from new york city. hi, lydia. good evening, gillian. the missed learning costs today s kids $17 trillion globally in lost earnings over the course of their lifetime. that s according to a recent report from the united nations and the world bank and it equals about 14% of today s global g.d.p. now, the new estimate of $17 trillion far outexceeds the $10 trillion estimate from a year ago. a sign that learning losses are snowballing. by now about 1.6 billion kids have been affected by full and partial school closures. in the united states alone, more than 7400 schools were closed to in person learning. one or more days during the week of january 10th. and just last week, 2100 schools
are pulling the trigger. people need to be held accountable because enough is enough. there s no other way to say it. we re tired physically, and we re tired emotionally. gillian: let s bring in our all star panel guy benson political editor at town hall.com and host of the guy benson show on fox news radio. katie pavlich and juan williams fox news analyst. we are learning from multiple services two police officers in richmond were killed on the scene of that shooting earlier toted a bridgewater college. our hearts go out to the families and the communities there. katie, you heard from the bereaved in that soundbite replayed off the top here officer rivera s widow at his eulogy last week and again today remarks from law enforcement in houston. it sounds an awful lot like law enforcement is starting to push back against politicians.

political points heading into the midterm. but house republicans contend the bill weak on china. democrats are very talented at the bait and switch. they name a bill something that it doesn t have anything to do with. republicans say the bill is sprinkled with nods to progressives since they failed on build back better. gives woke several billion dollars to do research. republicans say few of their members will vote yes. the amendment as amended is agreed to. but the companion bill sailed through the senate last june with 68 yeas. 20 of came from the g.o.p. republicans reflexive to anything nancy pelosi brings to the floor. unfortunate in the senate we have a much more serious tradition of bipartisan. house democrats say the senate bill focuses too much on countering china. meantime, the senate opposes the house s climate provisions. majority leaderboard chuck schumer says the gaps can be bridged. gillian? gillian: chad pergram on
