It was just one of the thousands of cries for help being made to Kids Help Phone specifically by Black youth – a volume of calls and text messages that more than doubled between May and June of last year. While much has been reported about how the isolation and loneliness of the pandemic have impacted young people in this country, Kids Help Phone says racial injustice is causing an equally catastrophic and continuing toll.
