Recordings of the May blitz have been published for the first time An astonishing audio recording of the World War 2 Liverpool blitz has been uncovered and aired for new generations to discover. The chilling footage, that had never been published until now, was captured by a BBC sound engineer during the May bombings, 80 years ago. The engineer climbed a watch tower and taped what he saw, but his recordings were never heard on radio until last weekend, when incredible extracts were played by BBC Radio 4 s Paddy O Connell on his Broadcasting House news programme. In the fascinating recording, the brave engineer says: I m going up onto the top of a building with some fire watchers to see what I can see from here.
