TAMPA â Jobsite Theater, the resident company at the David A. Straz Jr Center for the Performing Arts, is known for their creative updating of William Shakespeareâs plays. Theyâre back at it again with an exciting production of
Henry V.
Held in the socially-distanced Jaeb Theater, the play follows the newly crowned King Henry V, who as an adolescent prince was rebellious and hung out with thieves and drunks at taverns. Thanks to the conspiring of two clergymen, heâs been convinced that because of a law he is the rightful heir to Franceâs throne.
Collections will be made from 2pm every Saturday, and began last weekend. The project was originally set up back in November, after a resident asked ward councillor Giles Davies for help setting the project up. I was approached by a resident, Phil McGill, who asked what my thoughts were on starting a tin on the wall scheme, said Cllr Davies. I hadn t heard of it before, but after he explained it, I thought it was a brilliant idea. Mr McGill, Cllr Davies, Lynda Clarkson and Lisa Roynon-Griffiths have helped organise the collection. The whole community is getting involved, said Cllr Davies. It s a really close community.
Local schools, including Cwmffrwdoer Primary, Garnteg Primary, Blaenavon Heritage VC Primary and Abersychan Comp will be involved with the service, as will Gwent Brass Band and other local choirs. There will also be a special performance from an Elvis tribute act. This year, Noddfa Church has partnered with Victory Church in Blaenavon to organise the event. The night will raise money for the Daniel Jones Fund at Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent Mind, and a donation link will be provided on the stream on Sunday. Former Pontypool RFC hooker and Wales international Garin Jenkins will say a few words, as will Torfaen MP Nick Thomas-Symonds.
