An Iowa City man is facing a residency violation as a sex offender after being served a warrant on a theft charge from October.
According to Coralville police, they were called to the 1100 block of 21
st Avenue Place Sunday at 9pm on reports of a disturbance. There, they noticed 60-year-old Phillip Halliburton of Gilbert Court. Halliburton is a registered sex offender and was at an address within a 2000 foot restricted area. He allegedly had several bags containing all of his property inside the apartment, and under Miranda, reportedly admitted he stores his property there. Both Halliburton and the apartment tenant admitted that Halliburton is at the apartment often.
Chicago firefighters battled several problems while trying to put out an overnight house fire on the South Side.
Multiple hydrants froze, which hampered efforts to fight the fire near 84th and Gilbert Court in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
A wall collapsed as firefighters dealt with exposure to dangerous cold.
Another fire caused a temporary evacuation from parts of the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines late Sunday night.
Firefighters from several departments responded. They used extension ladders to gain access to the roof and put the fire out amid the freezing conditions.
The small fire began in the kitchen of Hugo s Frog Bar restaurant on the property, according to casino officials.
No one was hurt after a burning building partially caved in Sunday evening in the Gresham neighborhood.
Firefighters arrived about 11:40 p.m. to a fully engulfed two-story home in the 8400 block of South Gilbert Court, not far from Vincennes and Halsted, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
Crews initially tried to access a hydrant near Vincennes, but it was frozen and had no water pressure, department spokesman Curtis Hudson said. Firefighters were able to use another hydrant nearby.
The fire raged on for over an hour as crews tried to keep it from spreading to neighboring buildings, Hudson said. Part of the building collapsed, he said. Two adjacent homes were slightly damaged by fire exposure.

Two Cedar Rapids men are in custody after being accused of driving down to Iowa City Tuesday night to confront someone over a previous home invasion.
Police say 31-year-old Shannon Williams of Oakland Road Northeast and 22-year-old Devon Hanson of Rockford Road Southwest went to a home in the 900 block of South Van Buren Street just before 10:30pm with the intent of confronting the person who allegedly committed a home invasion in Cedar Rapids. Hanson stayed in the car, and Williams, allegedly carrying a gun, went to the house for “justice,” in his words
The residents called police, and the two fled the scene. An officer located the suspect vehicle near Kirkwood Avenue and Gilbert Court, leaving a funeral home.
