GIGA CASTINGS, NOT A WILD IDEA ANYMORE, BUT A MARKET TREND TO FOLLOW
The end of the 2020’s year is coming fast, we would like to take a look back at the important things that happened this year. Let’s forget the Covid-19 situation for a minute and focus on one major event that has shaken up the HPDC market this year, we of course want to talk about the Giga Press project.
This venture is probably the most exciting and challenging project in which Fondarex has taken part in over the last years. We are very proud to be part of this incredible story. An important moment in the die casting history and for sure a big step ahead for future developments in the foundry community.
We don t know yet and the next couple of days and will probably clear the question. However, what is equally interesting is Tesla’s “Giga Press” machines in Gigafactory Shanghai appear to be operational, at least to some degree. As you can see from Wuwa s recent video footage, several single-piece castings for what seems to be the Made-in-China Model Y have been spotted around the facility’s grounds. The fact that Tesla seems to be testing its China plant’s Giga Press machines bodes well for the all-electric crossover’s domestic ramp, as it suggests that even early production units of the Giga Shanghai-produced Model Y may utilize single-piece casted parts, writes Alvarez.
