When tens of thousands of African Americans including my parents came to San Francisco as part of the great migration, they came from the south and the west and midwest. They came for better way of life. They came to celebrate their gifts can and by the end of wwii, the filmore district had earned the title of harlem of the west. Now although the numbers of African Americans have dwindled and decreases in years, there is no way no how, that we can erase the proud ancestors who made this city what it is today.
