Pentecost Church To Plant 1million Trees In Two Months

  The Church of Pentecost (COP) has published the schedule of an ambitious project to plant one million trees in May and June 2021. The Environmental Care Campaign forms part of the five-year strategic vision of the Church (Vision 2023) dubbed “Possessing the Nations.” According to the COP, the trees would be planted in collaboration with the Forestry Commission starting May 29, 2021 when the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) are scheduled to plant 50,000 seedlings across the country. On June 5, 2021, another 100,000 trees would be planted by the Evangelism Ministry across the nation followed by another effort by the pastorate, Women’s Ministry & Children’s Ministry which would take turns to plant 500,000 seedlings on Friday, June 11, 2021.

Something uncommon happened that has brewed a lot of commentaries in the social and public space. The Church of Pentecost donated a prison infrastructure to the Ghana Prisons Service at Ejura in the Ashanti Region. The facility, the first of five, being constructed for the Ghana Prisons Service has Recreational Facilities (footbal pitch), Chapel (which also doubles as a classroom) and Baptistery, Infirmary, Workshop to train prisoners in employable skills and many other facilities . Although some of us expected all and sundry to applaud the efforts of the church and encourage her leadership to do more, it turned out that many have elected to bombard the church with a barrage of unnecessary attacks. Some people including members of the Church of Pentecost have questioned the church on the basis that, she should rather be found giving tuition free scholarship to
