SHREVEPORT - Employees of the LSU medical school in Shreveport filed complaints with the federal government about Chancellor Dr. Ghali E. Ghali and other senior leadership members for sexual harassment, gender discrimination and retaliatory actions.
The complaints, which were filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission by four employees, also had been filed weeks ago with the LSU System’s Title IX office.
According to The Advocate, 16 medical students reported sexual harassment by an administrative faculty member. F. Scott Kennedy, former dean of admissions, was accused of making female students and applicants write book reports on pornographic stories.
BATON ROUGE, La. - Dr. Ghali E. Ghali, chancellor of the LSU medical school in Shreveport, was put on administrative leave Tuesday.
The suspension comes comes a day after four employees filed federal complaints alleging he suppressed sexual harassment allegations involving students and retaliated against the faculty members who brought attention to the matters.
The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Monday alleged that an LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport administrator spoke inappropriately to and touched 16 female medical students. The filings also alleged that the medical schoolâs head of admissions required female students to write book reports on pornographic stories, according to The (Baton Rouge) Advocate.
