2023: NCF inaugurates merger committee

Share The National Consultative Forum has inaugurated a 22 member merger Committee ahead of the next general elections. One of the Conveners of the NCF, Professor Pat Utomi, who coordinated the inauguration of the team that was conducted virtually said the merger Committee led by former Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon Ghali Umar Na’aba, has been mandated to open discussion with existing opposition political parties towards formation of a mega party to dislodge the All Progressives Congress (APC). Professor Utomi said the coalition of eminent Nigerians was determined to reclaim the country from those he called political pillagers and build a Nigeria that “our children will be proud of.”

Stalwarts of the National Consultative Front (NCFront) movement have launched what they described as People’s Constitution Dialogue aimed at rescuing the country from civil anarchy. Members of the movement include former Speaker, House of Representatives, Ghali Na’aba; professor of Political economy, Pat Utomi; former President, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Olisa Agbakoba (SAN); economist and politician, Baba Ahmed; former Nigerian Ambassador to Netherlands, Mrs. Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu; lawyers and human rights activists, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) and Najatu Mohammed. x In a communiqué issued after a webinar held across the country, yesterday, Head, Public Affairs Bureau of NCFront, Dr. Tanko Yunusa, said a national constitutional consultation would be opened to all Nigerians for contribution as from May 1, 2021. He promised that a draft People’s Constitution would be ready not later than December 2021.

Punch Newspapers Sections John Alechenu, Abuja PROMINENT Nigerian civil rights activists working as members of the Constitution Drafting/Coordinating Committee of the People’s Constitutional Dialogue, initiated by the National Consultative Front, on Tuesday, said, a draft of the proposed people’s constitution would be ready by December 2021. Members of the NCFront, who are driving the process include a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’aba, a prof. of Economics, Pat Utomi; prominent Nigerian lawyers and civil rights activists, Femi Falana (SAN), Olisa Agbakoba, and Mike Ozekhome Awolowo Dosumu and Hakeem Baba-Ahmed among others. The NC Front said it inaugurated the initiative to save and rescue Nigeria from the precipice, nationwide insecurity and ethnic/civil anarchy.
