SWABI: The nurses of the Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor, on Monday staged a protest demonstration demanding accommodation in the newly-built hostel.
They argued that the hostel was built for them, but now the management of the Gajju Khan Medical College, Swabi, had decided to accommodate the first year MBBS students there.
Deputy commissioner Shahid Mehmood met with the leaders of the protesting nurses to end the protest, but they refused and vowed to continue with the agitation till their demand was met.
On the other hand, Dr Fasseh-uz-Zaman, principal of the Ghaju Khan Medical College and chief executive of the hospital, said the new batch of the MBBS students would be accommodated in the hostel as per the requirement of the Pakistan Medical Council.
