The World Health Organization (WHO) is warning vaccinated travellers should still be forced to quarantine over concerns about the spread of COVID-19. It comes on a tragic day around the globe in which the UK recorded its highest number of daily cases yet. As the world races to immunise, the WHO on Tuesday admitted it is unlikely vaccines will eradicate the coronavirus pandemic. The agency also said there s no evidence vaccinated people cannot still spread the virus - which means, in the future, even people with the vaccine could be forced to quarantine for weeks after travelling.

A major crash on Auckland s Southern Motorway has blocked a lane and caused major delays going south. The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) reported the crash just after the Mt Wellington Highway on-ramp around 1:15pm on Wednesday. Southbound lanes are blocked just after the Mt Wellington Highway on-ramp, due to a crash, NZTA posted on Twitter. Expect delay until the crash can be fully cleared. The transport agency warns Kiwi motorists to drive carefully this Christmas break.

The escalating cluster of coronavirus cases in Sydney s Northern Beaches should serve as a wake-up call for New Zealanders lulled into a false sense of security, says one of the country s leading epidemiologists. It s such a wake-up call for us because that could be us tomorrow, University of Otago epidemiologist and Professor of Public Health, Michael Baker, told Magic Talk on Monday morning.
