Senate panel to hold nomination hearing for Biden Intelligence director nominee this week Maggie Miller © Getty Images Senate panel to hold nomination hearing for Biden Intelligence director nominee this week The Senate Intelligence Committee will hold a hearing later this week to consider the nomination of Avril Haines, President-elect Joe Biden s pick for director of national intelligence (DNI), committee leaders announced Wednesday. Acting Committee Chairman Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Vice Chairman Mark Warner (D-Va.) announced that the hearing, set for Friday, will be virtual and livestreamed to the public. Haines is the former deputy director of the CIA and a former deputy national security adviser to former President Obama, and was nominated by Biden to serve as DNI in November. If confirmed, she will be the first woman to lead the intelligence community.
