collapse in pittsburgh, one first responder getting createdive. reporter: when pittsburgh emt john at kinson woke up yesterday morning, he faced an unexpected challenge. sometimes you have to do some unorthodox things or think outside the box to meet the needs of the incident. reporter: that unorthodox thing would come into use for this 21-year veteran who is trained as a tactical paramedic for the city of pittsburgh. these pictures are from his camera as he came to the scene of the frick park bridge collapse. it was a chaotic scene. it takes you aback to see this big hole where a bridge used to be. reporter: more than 100 paramedics were already on the scene but they had a problem. they were having a hard time reaching some of the victims below with their ambulances. there was some concern about the terrain and the ability to be able to get our medic units down into the ravine. reporter: john would use his own new four-wheel drive pickup to take on that rough terrain and
