PLANS for a spectacular 4G rooftop football pitch offering views of St. James’ Park have been boosted by a £900,000 investment into communities supported by Newcastle United Foundation. Innovative classrooms, high-tech digital hub, four-court sports hall, smart fitness suite and accessible changing areas, event and meeting spaces and open-plan offices will also be part of the three-story state-of-the-art facility, dubbed NUCASTLE. The investment has been granted through the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (North East LEP). The official charity arm of Newcastle United first released plans in 2017 to create the accessible and inclusive hub, providing a purpose-built space which seamlessly integrates learning, recreation, exercise and community work in the city.
