Gert Zoutendijk with the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s office said 21 homes and 54 other structures have burned, and 2,000 homes or structures are threatened. “We’re just waiting it out and waiting to hear what’s going on,” said Kim Bergey, who lives in an evacuation zone. “Some people have already been told they have nothing left and then there’s others like me waiting to see if we still have a property,” she said.

(NBC) – Close to 60 wildfires are burning out of control across the West right now during ongoing heatwaves and, what forecasters call, a mega-drought providing tens-of-thousands of acres of fuel. It’s early in the wildfire season, but frontline teams say the flames are as intense as any they’ve had to deal with which has many worried about what could come next. The intense and fast-moving fires are chasing thousands from their homes. Tens of thousands of acres have been swallowed by the flames. Severe heat is creating a tinder box across the region dried brush and timber fueling the massive fires that crews usually don’t see until the heart of the wildfire season.

With unpredictable fire movement, the week-long fire still has no containment. As the smoke is settling in multiple fire agencies are strategizing how to get ahead of the fire. The Bootleg Fire jumps in growth overnight, crossing into Lake County. “We’re trying to make headway, but this fire just pushes on and on. Since ambers are in front of this fire it’s very challenging,” said Gert Zoutendijk a Bootleg Fire official.
