you re down to 75%, which is basically the 08 electorate at that point. the problem, though, is with even the 2012 electorate, democrats didn t win the house because of the way these congressional districts are drawn. even if democrats get the turnout they need, there s not much prospect for them to regain the chamber. that s an interesting point because a lot of people talk about the word here is gerrymandering. the democrats didn t win the house because of it. it s more complex. it s population distribution, isn t it? yes. democrats do better in cities than republicans do in the countryside. since we assume that our districts should preserve, when you draw these urban districts, they waste more democratic votes than the republicans waste in their rural districts. right. to nate s point, one way the democrats can start picking off a lot of these folks within gerrymandering districts, is identify those politicians that actually want statewide office, whether senators or govern

gerrymandering districts, they can exert some pull and kill the deal in the house. so there is still that danger. it is april fools day. no joke, i truly believe things have not, the odds have not been this good in a long time. lindsay graham said on cnn, he thinks they have a deal. he said we have to write the legislation but he believes there is a deal here. again, going back to marco rubio and his party of the puzzle here. is this all for show? is this all for the public? at least what we re seeing from him? i don t think for show at all. i think he is very strategic in what he s doing. if you talk to the senators privately, they will all tell that you rubio is the lynchpin. so when he says that, everybody kind of blinks. you can t have rubio away from this. he has to be very comfortable with the deal that he can then bring forward and sell to his colleagues. and the tea party. but specifically, at least the sticking point in the past has been the border security
so they may have some advantages in their home districts, but nationally, they re as unpopular as they ve ever been. i guess that s the problem with jury manderring? do they care on a national level? talk about nobody having to reach term doubt. in the republican leadership, boehner tried to basically shake the tea party up but say we re going to take you off all of your chair map ships. what good did it do? he had to send pieces of the fiscal cliff legislation to the senate in order to get anything done. i thif what the real problem is, for the republican party, they are either a sunsetting party as they have them as gerrymandering districts, it s only going to last so long because they re going to infuse them with a pipeline will they re black, latino, women or asian. so in order for them not to be a dying party, they have to modernize. now, angela, as we go towards these fights, the fiscal fights
