A day before Jerusalem and Hamas reached a ceasefire to end the latest round of fighting, Germany’s Foreign Minister Heiko Maas visited Israel. He toured the city of Petah Tikva, where a rocket fired from Gaza destroyed a home.
His trip was used by Israel in its PR war against Hamas, and Maas delivered: “The fact that we see that Hamas is again firing missiles into the south of Israel, since we have arrived here in Tel Aviv, is for us an indication of how serious the situation is that the people of Israel find themselves in,” the foreign minister said.

Jews in the German city of Halle have stepped in to rescue a Muslim-owned kebab restaurant targeted by a far-right terrorist who also attacked a synagogue.
In 2019, on Yom Kippur, the far-right sympathiser attacked the crowded Halle synagogue, and the death toll would have been far higher had he been able to gain full access.
As it was, the gunman killed a woman passing by before entering the Turkish Kiez-Döner and killing a customer.
Now, Halle’s Jewish residents are helping Kiez-Döner to survive the pandemic, with the effects of Germany’s national lockdown meaning that it was facing bankruptcy.

The German Jewish community has intervened to save a Muslim-owned kebab restaurant targetted in a far-Right terror attack from going out of business because of the coronavirus pandemic.
With its slowly rotating kebab spits and stainless steel salad counter, Kiez-Döner in the eastern city of Halle is typical of countless Turkish fast food joints scattered across Germany.
In 2019 it made headlines around the world after it was caught up in a far-Right terror attack that also targetted a synagogue packed with worshippers marking Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
