AstraZeneca s woes continued this week after the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said there is a possible link between the company s jab and a rare form of serious blood clots.
But the EMA still recommended its use in the fight against COVID-19, saying the benefits outweigh the risks. This vaccine has proven to be highly effective. It prevents severe disease and hospitalisation, and it is saving lives.we need to use the vaccines we have to protect us from the devastating effects, of this virus, the EMA s Executive Director Emer Cooke said during a press conference on Wednesday.
The Anglo-Swedish drugmaker has said it was working with global authorities to better understand the vaccine s side effects.
