After approving two solar farms in the past few years and last month denying the largest one yet proposed in the Piney River area, the Amherst County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted an update to utility-scale solar zoning rules Tuesday.
The largest utility-scale solar farm project proposed to date in Amherst County in the Piney River area just next to the Nelson County border received the county board of supervisors’ unanimous vote of denial Tuesday.
Expressing a need to see the view from at least one property’s viewshed affected by the proposed Piney River Solar Project in northwestern Amherst County, the county’s planning commission voted Thursday to table a special exception permit request.
