Nicholas Swazo
Nicholas Swazo, the man who was on trial for the shooting murder of George Street gang boss, Gerald “Shiney” Tillett, was found guilty of the crime on Tuesday. The trial without a jury started almost three months ago before Supreme Court Justice, Antoinette Moore in the southern session, but Justice Moore had reserved her decision. During the trial, the prosecution called thirteen witnesses, three of whom were afraid to testify. So a provision was used to allow for those witnesses’ statements to be used as evidence in the trial. Gerald Tillett had been among a group of people who were socializing at Wadani Shed, a recreational spot in downtown Dangriga on the night of April sixteenth, 2016. According to eyewitnesses, Nicholas Swazo entered the establishment and opened fire on the unsuspecting Tillett, while he was playing cards. One of the bullets struck him in the head and he later died at the Western Regional Hospital. Two busines
Wayne Peteau
The families of Raymond Garcia and Wayne Peteau are aching for their loved ones while trying to determine who would want the men dead. Both men are described as loving and easygoing who never had any issues with anyone. That is why when the location where the men would usually hangout was the target of gunmen, their friends and family were taken aback. Garcia, Peteau, and two other men, all middle aged men, were socializing inside a small building on Church Street in Belize City on Saturday, May 8, like they usually would. This night, however, would take a turn for the worse around 9:00 p.m. when gunshots were fired into the building. It was two men traveling on a motorcycle who were responsible for these shots. After the gunfire subsided, Garcia lay dead on the floor while Peteau and a third man, Gilbert Moss, were injured. Unfortunately for Peteau, however, he succumbed to his injuries within minutes of arriving at the hospital. The fourth person who was with them, So
Kalief Caseres
A 17-year-old minor became the first in a series of murders that took place within Belize City in the last week, beginning on Thursday, May 6. Gerald Tillett Jr., son of the late and infamous Gerald “Shiny” Tillett Sr. who was murdered himself in 2016, was in enemy territory when an attack was made on his life. It took place on Baghdad Street just before 7:00 p.m. His father was once the leader of the George Street Gang and, as such, Tillett Jr. was out of his turf when he was riding his bicycle along Baghdad. It wasn’t too long before multiple shots were fired by a gunman, fatally injuring the minor. Police responded to the incident where they found Tillett Jr. several feet away from his bicycle, indicating that he attempted to run for his life.

Kalief Caceres
Seventeen-year-old Gerald Tillett Junior was killed in a cold-blooded shooting on Thursday evening as he rode his bicycle on Bagdad Street. The George Street resident, many say, was in the wrong neighborhood when he met his tragic end. Tillett, the son of a deceased gang leader who bears his namesake, was reportedly executed by eighteen-year-old Kalief Caceres in a hail of bullets. The murder, according to investigators, is gang-related. While police were on high alert pending a retaliation, a deadly fusillade on Saturday night claimed the lives of two men and injured a third. Police are yet to determine whether the two incidents are in any way related.

Gerald Tillett Jr.
Belize City police are on high alert, following the late evening murder of a known gang affiliate on Thursday. Gunfire erupted in the vicinity of Bagdad Street yesterday, shortly before seven p.m. When the shooting subsided, a young man lay dead not far from where his bicycle came to rest. It would appear that Gerald Tillett Jr. attempted to flee on foot after being mortally wounded, but he wouldn’t get far before collapsing to the pavement. What investigators later found out was that he was with two persons when one of them unleashed a hail of bullets in his direction. News Five’s Isani Cayetano has that story.
