Groups Hopeful About Marcia Fudge as HUD Secretary
In spite of a campaign for her to lead the Department of Agriculture, Fudge’s selection as HUD secretary makes her the second Black woman tapped for the role.
Slated to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Rep. Marcia Fudge will be the second Black woman to lead the agency. Her appointment comes as a national group of Black women urge the President-elect to recognize the importance and value Black women contributed to his election by appointing more Black women to the cabinet.
Led by #WinWithBlackWomen, a group formed in the late summer to push back on problematic rhetoric and language used to describe the Black women being considered as Biden’s nominee, the letter demands meaningful appointments of Black women in the Biden-Harris administration.

After a letter from voting rights groups and concerns from the community, Cobb County has added two more early voting sites for a total of seven, down from the 11 the county had for the November election.
The county elections department announced they will be making these changes in a press release Wednesday:
Moving the advance voting location from the Ward Recreation Center to the
Ron Anderson Community Center in Powder Springs.

The NAACP, ACLU, and others sent a letter to the county Monday, saying that the cuts would unevenly affect the county’s Black and Latinx residents because most of the closed early voting locations were in minority neighborhoods.
