(ATLANTA, GA, 1/8/2021) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)and its Georgia chapter (CAIR-Georgia) today released the results of an exit poll that surveyed registered Georgia Muslim voters who participated in Tuesday’s special U.S. Senate election. The exit poll of 196 Georgia Muslim voters found that 91% (179 respondents) voted for U.S. Senate race winners Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, while 6% (11 respondents) voted for Republican Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler. Three percent of respondents declined to answer. Both Democratic candidates beat out their opponents by razor thin margins, with Reverend Warnock and Ossoff respectively winning 50.9% and 50.5% of the state’s vote . Georgia is home to an estimated 150,000 American Muslims, including at least 71,000 registered Muslim voters.

Ahead of the consequential US Senate race in Georgia next month, Muslim organisers and community members in the state are coming together to mobilise Muslims to vote for the upcoming election, which will decide which political party will have a majority in the Congress.
