One of the biggest questions in this era of misinformation and disinformation, paranoia and fear of government and our fellow man, is are the vaccines safe.

(WALB) - COVID-19′s winter surge was one of many topics on Dougherty County leaders’ minds on Friday. At Friday’s COVID-19 task force briefing, leaders talked about false information around the vaccine and safety measures for Super Bowl parties. Dougherty County Commission Chairman Christopher Cohilas said experts are starting to see a downward trend. Now, Cohilas pointed out, there’s a higher percentage of people testing negative for COVID-19.

(Montana Samuels/Patch) CANTON, GA The Cherokee County Health Department coronavirus vaccination clinic will move to Canton First Baptist Church next week. The department will begin operating the clinic at the church, located at 1 Mission Point in Canton, from 8 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. each Monday through Friday. The new location will replace the coronavirus vaccination clinic currently located at the health department s Woodstock health center. The vaccine will still be offered at no out-of-pocket expense at the new location. Insurance will be billed, but only if it is available. There will be no expense to any client. Anyone who does not have insurance will not be billed for the vaccination.

State health officials confirm suspension of Elberton f

Officials with the Georgia Department of Public Health have suspended The Medical Center of Elberton from Georgia s COVID-19 Vaccination Program, but they say there are other locations in the county for residents to receive vaccines.  The hospital was suspended for vaccinating teachers in the county; teachers are not part of the population currently eligible to receive COVID vaccines. The suspension - effective Wednesday, Jan. 27 - was confirmed in a press release issued Thursday.  The suspension became effective immediately for a term of six months, ending July 27, 2021, the statement said. The suspension is for The Medical Center of Elberton only. Five other vaccine providers in Elbert County, including the Elbert County Health Department, will continue to receive vaccine.
