Former President Donald Trump has been indicted over his efforts to overturn the results of his 2020 presidential election loss in Georgia. The charges focus on alleged schemes by Trump and his allies to attempt illegally overturn his loss in the state. It’s the fourth criminal case brought against the former president as he seeks to reclaim the White House, and the second to allege that he tried to subvert the results of the vote. Eighteen others have been charged alongside the former president in the Georgia case. They have all been given until Aug. 25 to surrender. Trump called the case against him “election interference,” and his attorneys called the process “one-sided.”

thank you, alex wagner. thank you. yesterday nbc news correspondent blayne alexander, as you saw, conducted what can very fairly be called an historic interview with the foreperson of that grand jury in georgia that investigated donald trump. i say historic because none of us have been able to think of any interviews that we remember of members of any grand juries, who, in most states, are sworn to secrecy about their work even after the job is done, but not in georgia. george s peculiar law allow grand jurors to discuss cases they have investigated even before charges are brought. the georgia grand jurors are only prohibited from publicly discussing deliberations and the definition of deliberations appears to refer only to discussions among the grand jurors.
