STAUNTON Authorities arrested a Staunton man Friday following a covert investigation targeting online predators.
The week-long investigation by the Augusta County Sheriff s Office, where an investigator posed as a 14-year-old girl, resulted in the arrest of 63-year-old George W. Marshall of Staunton, a press release said.
The sheriff s office said Marshall allegedly sent a number of explicit messages to the bogus teen, and eventually agreed to meet the supposed teen at an undisclosed parking lot in Augusta County. However, the press release said the suspect was met by investigators instead.
Marshall is charged with attempted indecent liberties by a minor and use of electronic means to solicit a minor.
